Small Table Styling

Stylist’s Key to Table Styling

Have you ever had that little itch, to add a new splash of color or freshen things up? I always have that itch, and the best way I’ve found to cure it, is by adding fresh florals to our rooms and changing up our table decor from time to time. Adding new decor is always a fun way to express oneself and add personality to the home! In fact it can be so much fun, that one can go a little over board with styling. So when curating small items to decorate your table, always remember, “fewer is better”!

Your Focal Point

Becoming creative, when styling a small table, can sometimes feel like a monstrous task for such a tiny space. It’s okay though; we’ve all been there! The main key to styling, is keeping in mind your focal point! Your focal point is the center of interest, so you will want to make sure-when styling your small table-that it’s not pulling away your attention from the main focal point in the room, but that it is pulling your interest! Focus on these three aspects, for small table styling: 2-3 objects, touch of nature, and creating a visual triangle.

The 3 Aspects/Components

While picking out your 2-3 main objects for styling your table, remember this last essential key component-don’t forget to appreciate and embrace the table for its own beauty! Yes, styling a table is fun and adds personal touches, but you never want to lose sight of key components that the table brings itself! For that reason, I took into consideration what one of our small side tables had to contribute, when I styled the table in the pictures. I appreciated the beauty of the marble and wanted to showcase the beauty of it, instead of taking it away, so I chose just 2 objects instead of 3, for my table. I added an arrangement of flowers-the touch of nature, and a pink salt stone to compliment the blush pink in the flowers and to contrast with the vase. By using 2 and not 3 objects, I gave this table enough room to place my drinking glass, which pulls together the visual triangle, and creates a harmonious balance.
